Before I was an Operations Manager, I was the person a Vice-Chancellor turned to at 8am with a full inbox and a fuller diary and needed it sorted by 9. I’ve supported C-suite leaders across law firms, universities, energy companies and growing SMEs – over 25 years spent inside organisations where a wrong call, a missed deadline or a dropped ball had real consequences.
That’s a different training ground to most operations support. It’s not about ticking off task lists. It’s about reading a business, spotting the thing about to go wrong before it does, and having the judgement to know what actually matters this week versus what can wait.
I became the person leaders relied on to bring order to fast-moving environments – not because I was good at admin, but because I understood how organisations actually work, where they break, and what it takes to hold them together while they grow.
